Scuba Fest Heads to Cozumel Waters in December 2015
Cozumel (PRWEB) November 27, 2015 -- The second week of December 2015 will be dominated by one of the biggest events in Cozumel, the Scuba Fest. The primary diving event in the entire Mexican Caribbean area, Scuba Fest will be taking place in a location that many consider to be the dive capital of the continent, Cozumel Island, a short distance off the Yucatan Peninsula.
El Cid Vacations Club points out that prominent photographers, oceanographers and expert divers from all over the world will be taking part in this major event. Participants are able to honor those who have come before by paying tribute to former divers who led the way and helped open up this part of the reef for responsible, recreational diving. El Cid Vacations Club members already know how beautiful Cozumel is, both above and below the water.
Many of the earlier divers who first took to the underwater world on the Mesoamerican Reef will be honored by this year’s contingent of participants in Scuba Fest. According to El Cid Vacations Club, there are nine main reefs that comprise the Scuba Fest route for this year’s participants in the 6-day long festival. Four of those days will be devoted exclusively to exploring the nine reefs in a particular sequence designed by Jean-Michele Cousteau, whose father was the world famous explorer and oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
It has been more than 50 years, notes El Cid Vacations Club, since the elder Cousteau first explored and marveled at these waters and their extensive reef development. This year’s divers who finish the entire series of reefs will go home with a personally autographed logbook, courtesy of Jean-Michele Cousteau, who has kept alive his father’s dream of an ecologically sound reef environment. El Cid Vacations Club points out that the divers contribute to the sustainability of the reefs and are considered a vital part of the economic support system that makes sure the area is kept clean and safe for future generations.
According to El Cid Vacations Club, the environmental group Ocean Futures Society recognizes members of the Scuba Fest event as true “Friends of the Reef,” and officially bestows that title on each diver who completes the entire Scuba Fest series. El Cid Vacations Club highly recommends the Scuba Fest for all who are interested in exploring the world’s most beautiful underwater locales.
