AGING AND FALLING, A Feature Documentary of CSUN Professor Luciana Lagana, Is Recognized at Two Film Festivals.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 31, 2015 -- Luciana Lagana’s feature documentary, ‘AGING AND FALLING,’ has received the Recognition Award for best educational, instructional and training film at the 2015 INDIE FEST FILM AWARDS. She also received the Honorable Mention Award at the 2015 INTERNATIONAL INDEPENDENT FILM AWARDS.
From the film’s synopsis: “It is hard to be an older adult who has fallen and now has complications such as pain and stress related to it. Dr. Luciana and several experts discuss the problems encountered by an older woman who has fallen and now has chronic pain and other health complications. Together, the experts engage the audience in a variety of activities designed to give older adults and anyone interested in becoming stronger to avoid falling. She also gives tips on how to best exercise to improve posture and stability. Lively discussions on why older adults fall and ways to help them avoid falling are intermixed with funny segments such as Tai Chi demonstrations. The result is a fun-to-watch feature documentary that is informational and entertaining for audiences of all ages.”
“Creating films about how to help older adults have a better quality of life is a great passion of mine. I conduct research on this topic and teach gerontology at CSUN; the process of creating these films impacts students as they give me feedback and are invited to contribute footage on older individuals. I hope that this movie will help older adults and their loved ones prevent falling in older age. I am very happy to be acknowledged for my filmmaking work in this field,” Dr. Luciana said. “With my team, I am putting the final touches on this movie. We are currently in the process of adding more footage of older adults who have fallen, completing the subtitles for some of them, and inserting other elements to make it unique,” concluded Dr. Luciana.
