EVENT: Grid Analytics Europe 2016 – 5-6 April 2016, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Amsterdam, The Netherlands (PRWEB UK) 10 February 2016 -- “The difference in utility confidence relating to data analytics is like night and day when we compare our latest findings with our 2013 research results” says Mandana White, Programme Director of Grid Analytics Europe 2016, organised by Phoenix Forums. “Utilities have known for some time how crucial analytics is to their grid performance and planning, but it is only now that compelling enough business cases are being developed, stake-holder buy-in is being achieved, and realistic investment levels are being secured to launch and develop analytics programmes with significant scale-up potential”.
This second edition of Grid Analytics Europe 2016 focuses on the potential of predictive analytics for dynamic grid performance and takes place 5-6 April 2016. 14 utility speakers are scheduled to share their lessons learnt from actual implementations of data analytics for a variety of use cases, including representatives of ERDF, Iberdrola, Vattenfall, Alliander, EDP, National Grid, PJM Interconnection among others. To support the industry’s drive toward the Common Information Model (CIM) for data integration and interoperability, a 2-hour CIM tutorial will take place on the afternoon of conference day two. Alongside the conference there are a series of facilitated networking events, including a round table discussion session, a networking canal cruise, frequent networking in the solution zone and more.
Robin Hageman, Manager of Analytics, Innovations and Livinglabs at Alliander, who will be presenting Alliander’s market leading data analytics approach comments: “We have been developing our data analytics organisation for several years and now have a central team of 25 data scientists, engineers & tool developers, working with our asset, grid & market management team, using complex data models and predictive analytics. The output of this team has been immensely helpful to our data driven strategy programme and our network development objectives. In the process we have experienced many challenges around handling the rapidly rising volumes of data, combining data from different silos and maintaining data quality and governance, fully integrating our IT&OT systems and starting to apply CIM. We have also faced some challenges around integrating our data scientists into the wider organisation and gaining stakeholder buy-in. However, I am happy to say that we have now overcome many of these challenges, and are looking to expand with more operational processes into our analytics methods, and for additional features in our Analytics Tool Landscape, to help scale up our current platform to handle a greater number of use cases.
