KickShark Launches the Roadie USB-C Pocket Hub for the 12 inch MacBook
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) February 11, 2016 -- KickShark, Inc., the Tennessee based team that brought the HydraDock desktop USB-C dock to market — the world's first and only actually shipping standards compliant USB 3.1 dock — now brings you the world's first and only actually completed USB-C USB 3.1 standards compliant pocket hub — the Roadie, for the 12 inch Apple MacBook.
“Because we spent over a year developing our 13 port desktop dock, making a tiny 6 port pocket hub was simple for us. The product you see here is 100% complete, and ready for immediate mass production,” said Kristin Cales, KickShark director of marketing. “We are launching on Kickstarter, and will be able to ship all rewards 4 weeks after the campaign.”
The Roadie is the size of a credit card, with a short USB-C male cable on one end for connecting to a 12 inch MacBook, and a female USB-C port on the other end for plugging in a MacBook power adapter. One side has an RJ45 jack for gigabit Ethernet, and an HDMI jack that handles up to 4K displays. Note that this HDMI jack is HDCP compliant, so it will play HDCP copy protected rented or purchased content, such as from iTunes, Amazon, and other online sources. The other side has a pair of state of the art USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports that deliver 5Gb/sec. bandwidth and 900mA of power.
The Roadie is fully explained on its Kickstarter campaign page.
