FlexJobs & 1 Million for Work Flexibility to Host Exclusive Online Movie Premiere of “Having It All”
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) February 17, 2016 -- FlexJobs, the leading online service for hand-screened telecommuting and flexible jobs, and 1 Million for Work Flexibility, the first national initiative to create a collective voice in support of work flexibility, today announced they will host the exclusive online movie premiere of Having It All. The powerful documentary, directed by Vlada Knowlton, follows three professional women over the course of two years in their journey as new moms trying to balance career and family.
The exclusive online showing of Having It All will take place on March 3rd on FlexJobs.com and will be followed by an hour-long webinar discussion at 4:00 p.m. ET led by work-family experts Kelly Wallace, Editor-at-Large on Family/Career/Life at CNN; Jennifer Owens, Editorial Director at Working Mother; Vlada Knowlton, director of Having It All; and Sara Sutton Fell, CEO/Founder of FlexJobs, Remote.co, and 1 Million for Work Flexibility. The online panel will facilitate a discussion about the challenges career-focused, professional mothers face and the societal, employer-based, and perception changes needed to improve the landscape for all working parents.
“As both a working parent and employer myself, I understand firsthand the challenges of learning to balance family and career for myself, as well as the importance of supporting my team in their work-life needs," said Sara Sutton Fell, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs. “We have also worked with over a million job seekers, and we routinely hear how important work flexibility is to working parents as they navigate through their careers and parenthood. That’s why I believe Having It All is an important movie that can help stimulate and contribute in significant ways to the conversations that need to be happening on a national--and international--level. We want to offer an opportunity for them to not only connect to the journeys of other parents in the film, but also to create a space to have a frank conversation about their own experiences of trying to ‘have it all.’”
Panelists Wallace, Owens, Knowlton and Sutton Fell bring years of personal and professional experience on these issues to share with the audience. The webinar will tackle topics such as:
-What does it mean for moms (and dads) to strive for the concept of ‘having it all’?
-Whether the panelists and the audience felt they were prepared for the challenges of balancing career and family
-Advice for women and all professionals entering the work-family phase of life
“My intention was to create a film that could help new parents feel less alone in their struggle to adjust to juggling work and family responsibilities,” said Vlada Knowlton, director of Having It All. “I hope that, besides offering people a feeling of connection with others in a similar situation, this film will provide a thoughtful contribution to the broader discussion of how our society can help families cope with the demands of work and home life,” she said.

About Having It All
In recent years, the struggle women face to balance work and family has been a recurrent topic in news and entertainment. Various perspectives have been offered on the “Having It All” dilemma and its underlying issues, ranging from the news media’s mostly fictional “mommy wars” to comedy films like “I Don’t Know How She Does It”, to books and essays by prominent business women and policy makers such as Sheryl Sandberg and Anne-Marie Slaughter. The intent behind the documentary “Having It All,” directed by Vlada Knowlton, is to offer insight from real and personal experiences of women and their partners as they attempt to balance work and family. Washington State’s PBS TV station, KCTS9, selected Having It All as the "anchor program" for its “Women Who Inspire” series that aired throughout August, 2015. It was also featured on the cover of KCTS9’s August Viewer Guide. In 2015 Seattle’s leading parenting magazine, ParentMap, featured Having It All in a series of theatrical film presentations that were part of the magazine’s year-long “Making It Work” series of articles and live events.
