Announcing Opening Day of 2016 iaedp Symposium on Amelia Island, Florida
Amelia Island, Florida (PRWEB) February 17, 2016 -- The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals Foundation (iaedp), provider of educational programs and training standards for eating disorder specialists and other medical professionals caring for those suffering from the full spectrum of disordered eating, announces the opening of its 30th annual iaedp Symposium at the Omni on Amelia Island, Florida, February 17- 21. The 2016 Symposium kicks off with the start of the pre-certification course and will continue with six keynote speakers as headliners, interactive workshops as well as the reveal of the “Imagine Me” mannequin art competition winners.
“The field of eating disorders is always changing, whether it is treatment methods, new research or a new healthcare system,” said Bonnie Harken, Managing Director of The iaedp Foundation. “The purpose of the Symposium is to provide a forum for eating disorder professionals to discuss these changes as well as educate and exchange information.”
The 2016 Symposium offers four days of training sessions and instructive presentations. Highlights of the more than 40 offered sessions include: family involvement in eating disorders, pregnancy and eating disorders, the insights into Binge Eating Disorder and neurofeedback and the treatment of eating disorders. Three of the presentations are offered by top professionals in the field in Spanish only.
Due to its extreme popularity, iaedp will once again offer its pre-certification courses onsite at Symposium 2016. With these courses, professionals who are new to the field or do not specialize in eating disorders can receive a first-hand, comprehensive introduction to eating disorder treatment.
The 2016 Symposium also will reveal the winner of the sixth annual “Imagine Me Beyond What You See” body image art competition. Out of the submissions from treatment centers, private practices and individuals from around the world, five were recently chosen as finalists, with the winner being announced and spotlighted at the Symposium.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this year’s Symposium,” said Harken. “With the return of pre-certification courses and submissions for Imagine Me, plus the renowned speakers and featured workshops, the 2016 Symposium is the best yet.”
Record attendance is expected at the 2016 Symposium, with more than 650 attendees coming from domestic and international locations.
