SkillSurvey Releases New Version of its Candidate Reports to Provide Recruiters More Information for Decision Making

New Data-Driven Format Gives Recruiters Enhanced Views of Reference Feedback and Options to Incorporate Results of Scientific Validity Studies

SkillSurvey, the provider of cloud-based reference checking and credentialing solutions that deliver reliable insights, announced that it has released a new and enhanced version of its candidate reports for its patented online reference solution. The new design provides recruiters and hiring managers with more analytics, new flexible options to view reference feedback and ways to configure the report to help hiring managers interpret the feedback.

“We’ve collaborated closely with our customers and analytics team to focus on report enhancements that would bring recruiting teams and hiring managers the most value such as expanded views of the reference data and new flexible options to view comparative data,” said Steve Heister, chief product officer, “Overall, it has a great new look and feel that provides data-driven approaches to easily visualize information, and a new executive summary section which will help our clients access all the top-level insight at a glance.”

Key enhancements to the reports include:

  • A new Executive Summary Section providing a high-level snapshot of the reference feedback;
  • A new Predictive Talent Analytics section that features components of reference feedback that are scientifically proven to be predictive of turnover for "cause" (being fired) within the first year of employment based on scientific validity studies;
  • Flexible options for displaying the behavioral ratings provided by the references as the average numeric rating across all references, or as a percentile relative to other candidates applying for the same or a similar position, or with both these options;
  • A new feature that allows organizations to customize reports with their own defined categories for ratings to provide additional guidance on decision making. The categories can be applied to the percentile ranges of candidates within a similar norm group.

“The predictive analytics section is based on studies conducted by SkillSurvey’s analytics team of I/O psychologists who have followed close to 50,000 new hires who had been reference checked by the SkillSurvey solution, and subsequently hired,” said SkillSurvey’s chief analytics officer, Cynthia Hedricks, Ph.D. “Other enhancements to the report are derived from in-depth client research that helped us understand the most valuable parts of the reports and where we could provide additional insight to recruiters and hiring managers.”

SkillSurvey’s patented online reference solution allows recruiters and hiring managers to evaluate a candidate’s past performance based on responses to survey questions provided by prior managers, co-workers and direct reports. Once the candidate enters their references, the references are sent a link to complete an online job-specific survey. On average, 85% of references respond, yielding more than four references per candidate completing the survey.

The candidate report is typically available within 1 to 2 business days and provides a summary of all the reference feedback, including job-specific behavioral ratings and verbatim comments. Feedback from each individual reference is kept confidential.
