BROADMIC Unleashes Diverse Voices to Empower the Next Generation of Female Entrepreneurs, Investors
New York, New York (PRWEB) March 02, 2016 -- BroadMic is a compelling new podcast series, amplifying the diversity of entrepreneurs in technology startups, launching in conjunction with Women’s History Month.
BroadMic, hosted by Kelly Hoey, a regular contributor to Inc.com, and a well-known speaker and strategist, will spotlight the accomplishments of female entrepreneurs, investors and thought leaders. Through creative storytelling and sharing practical wisdom, BroadMic will inspire women and give them the ‘picks and shovels’ they need to lead innovation. Collectively, Season One guests have founded and invested in over 100 female-led technology startups valued at over $1Bn.
Season One launched March 1 with three episodes. Season one guests include:
• Heidi Messer, Co-founder and Chairman of Collective[i] - The $1 Tn Opportunity in B2B
• Tami Reiss, CEO of Cyrus Innovation - When a Failure is not a Failure
• Joanne Wilson, Angel Investor - The No BS Angel Investor
• Jessica Peltz-Zatulove, Principal at kbs+ Ventures
• Jalak Jobanputra, Founder/Managing Partner, FuturePerfect Ventures
• Nelly Yusupova, CTO of Webgrrls, Founder of TechSpeak for Entrepreneurs

• Carley Roney, Co-Founder of The Knot (XO Group Inc.)
“I wanted to create an alternative to the conventional stereotype of the entrepreneur, a “white male, hoody-wearing, unicorn-hunting Stanford engineer. BroadMic will highlight the diversity in entrepreneurship,” said Sara Weinheimer, founder and executive producer of BroadMic. “Our goal is to empower the next generation of female entrepreneurs. We want women to think big and unleash new market opportunities. I am thrilled to be collaborating with Kelly, who is dedicating her considerable intellect, talent, and compelling voice to this project. Together, we believe that by highlighting successful role models of entrepreneurs and investors, we can change the narrative.”
Hoey says “Women are starting businesses at a rate 1½ times the national average, and more than double the rate from only three years ago. The need for funding is obvious. Yet there is this persistent bottleneck in VC funding for female founders: only 4% of female founder teams actually receive VC funding. Sara had the vision to recognize the need for a trusted source where the next generation of women entrepreneurs could learn from industry leaders. I want every single listener to be inspired, take action and think broad. No more white papers, no more studies, no more theses about change – let’s act!”
