Surf BBQ, New American Barbecue Restaurant, Opens in Rumson, New Jersey
Rumson, New Jersey (PRWEB) March 24, 2016 -- Surf BBQ, a restaurant specializing in authentic American barbecue, will open in Rumson, New Jersey on or about April 1. New Jersey restaurateur and TV host, Victor Rallo Jr., and the Diaco family created this new Southern and smoky establishment as a spot for guests to experience the history and future of American barbecue. With a New Jersey flair, this restaurant features a communal experience of traditional BBQ accompanied by a variety of American beverages.
Surf BBQ will specialize in authentic American, pit-smoked meats prepared in the classic technique of smoking, while incorporating a variety of flavor profiles representing the local community. In traditional barbecue style, this restaurant will offer walk up counter service, selling each day’s freshly cooked offerings from brisket and pulled pork to short ribs and sausage. The bar will feature American craft beers and a large range of American whiskeys, seasonal cocktails and American wines.
Surf BBQ has a modern New Jersey style while still paying homage to the ‘old school’ ways of the Pitmasters. Two different Pitmasters have come together to create this unique barbecue menu, including Brooklyn native, Billy Durney. An award-winning pitmaster and owner of Hometown Bar-B-Que in Brooklyn, Durney brings great experience and technique to Surf BBQ.
As the owner of Birravino and Undici Taverna Rustica, two New Jersey-based Italian restaurants, Victor Rallo Jr. has always had a passion for good and local food. With an interest in traditional American cuisine and a penchant for surfing, Rallo came up with the communal dining, barbecue concept for Surf BBQ.
“We are very excited to open Surf BBQ and bring traditional American barbecue to New Jersey with a local twist,” says Victor Rallo. “My focus has always been to create authentic food and I am thrilled to step into a cooking style born in the United States, with the time honored and homegrown cooking tradition of barbecue.”

About Victor Rallo, Jr.: Victor Rallo is a successful, seasoned restaurateur and wine critic in New Jersey. After graduating from Villanova University and earning his JD from Seton Hall, Victor jumped directly from the world of law into the restaurant business. He now owns and operates Birravino in Red Bank, and Undici Taverna Rustica and Surf BBQ in Rumson.
