Webster-Calhoun Cooperative Telephone Association (WCCTA) Held Their Annual Meeting of Members on March 15th at the Southeast Valley High School Gymnasium
Gowrie, IA (PRWEB) March 31, 2016 -- The theme for this year's Annual Meeting of Members for the Webster-Calhoun Cooperative Telephone Association (WCCTA) is "We Have You Covered." The members were treated to blankets illustrating how WCCTA has them covered by providing landline telephone, Internet and digital television service to the sixteen communities in the cooperative.
Other items on the agenda for the evening included the results of the Election of the Board of Directors to replace the directors whose terms expire. Steve Gustafson from Lanyon with District 1, Kim Vosberg from Knierim with District 2 and Harry Armstrong from Badger with District 3 were introduced to the members.
A strong financial report shows that WCCTA is well positioned for the future. Concerns about the upcoming release by the FCC on a new Universal Service order were explained to the members. It is anticipated that support from Universal Service is expected to decrease along with requirements to raise telephone rates.
"Our focus is on providing good service to the members. The cooperative was founded because 'big companies' didn’t want to serve you due to the expense and challenges of rural Iowa," General Manager Daryl Carlson told the attending members. As a cooperative, the directors, management and staff have the best interest of the members in mind—We Have You Covered.
Other items presented to the members included the announcement that there will be an upcoming rate increase for WCDTV and telephone service to cover the higher costs that are charged to WCCTA. The WCDTV rate takes effect on April 1st and the local rates and ARC charge for telephone will be changed in June and July respectively.
A reminder to the members that Manage Your Media classes continue to be provided at no cost. The classes include education, use and adoption of WCCTA services as well as devices and applications that access the Internet. Upcoming classes include iPad and Tablets on April 18th and Basic eMail on April 20th.
A wide variety of door prizes were handed out during the Annual Meeting. Everyone kept looking at their ticket to see if they were a winner as the numbers were called out. This year's winners included Mark Lindgren - 55" TV; Bruce Light 48" TV; Dorla Neiderheiser - 32" TV; Barbara Clidewell - 24" TV; Norma Morgan - 24" TV; Roger Coon - WiFi Crockpot; Ray Glidewell - Roku3 Streaming Device; Angela Benfield - Dutch Oven; and Everett Hade - Chocolate Covered Candy Gift Basket.
