SkillSurvey, Inc., the provider of cloud-based reference checking and credentialing solutions that deliver reliable insights, announced that its analytics team will present their research on the qualitative data provided by references at the annual conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) taking place in Anaheim, CA, April 14-16, 2016.

The team examined qualitative feedback on work-related strengths and areas for improvement provided by references on a confidential, online reference check survey. This type of research -- text analysis of open-ended comments from a candidate’s references -- has never been done before on such a large scale and on such a representative sample. The study consisted of 3,200 job applicants who were reference checked on one of 16 different job-specific surveys. Each applicant received feedback from at least four references; data from two managers and two co-workers were selected for analysis, yielding a sample of data from 12,800 references.
