skyTran Unveils Its Technology Demonstration System
(PRWEB) April 21, 2016 -- skyTran® Inc., headquartered at NASA Research Park, and the developer of the patented, high-speed, elevated, energy-efficient skyTran Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) and Cargo Rapid Transit (CRT) systems, announced the successful launch and operation of its Technology Demonstration System. The TDS includes the skyTran-vehicle chassis and its unique MagLev Wings and Propellers. It shows all of the skyTran system components that are required for full-scale commercial operation: Propulsion, Levitation, and Switching.
The TDS is a complex, steel testing structure that is affectionately referred to as an “ugly duckling” by the skyTran engineering team. Building such a utilitarian test apparatus is an important step forward toward the construction of the final lightweight, sleek, elevated skyTran guideways worldwide.
The Technology Demonstration System enables continuous testing, monitoring, and improvement of skyTran’s technology in a controlled environment.
skyTran consists of a network of computer-controlled, 2- and 4-person space-age vehicles and cargo pods employing state-of-the-art skyTran MagLev (STML™) technology. skyTran systems will transport both passengers and cargo in a fast, safe, green, and economical manner.
skyTran has now begun construction of its first “look-like” system. It will sit on gleaming steel poles and carry hanging, space-age, “jet-like” vehicles. skyTran intends to revolutionize public transportation and the moving of light cargo within urban and suburban communities.
With the unveiling of the TDS, Jerry Sanders, skyTran’s CEO, remarked, “With the full scale demonstration of skyTran’s technology, we are poised to launch commercial systems worldwide. skyTran will help eliminate the two-pronged bane of congestion and pollution that impacts our world. We will show the world a better way to move: fast, efficient, and green.”
