Sim Shalom Online Synagogue Takes Flight With Give Peace Fundraiser
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 02, 2016 -- On May 1, Sim Shalom launched a one month May fundraising campaign to bolster its ability to provide spiritual services and interactive events that foster peace and connections for its growing global community. The fundraising theme "Give Peace" highlights the central theme of inclusion and acceptance of Jewish Universalism for which Sim Shalom is built. Throughout the month of May, poems, songs and inspirational quotes centered on peace will be featured daily on Sim Shalom's Facebook page.
The name Sim Shalom is derived from the Hebrew words to give peace. According to Sim Shalom founder, Rabbi and Cantor Steven Blane, "Sim Shalom requires no membership or fees, we rely solely on donations. Financial support will allow us to grow our vision to thread global peaceful connections with cutting end technology to expand our oneof a kind online platform and community. Each weeknight Sim Shalom Congregants connect online from around the world building relationships through uplifting song, music, live chat and prayer. In Judaism the Torah asks that one give tzedakah. The tradition is practiced in many conventional synagogues which in addition to temple memberships, asks for building funds for upkeep of buildings, grounds and maintenance. Sim Shalom exists virtually so it has reduced many of those type of expenditures, however investment in production technology to provide state of the art interactive services are essential for the upkeep of the online community.
In appreciation to those who participate in the fundraiser "Give Peace" items will be given. The gift giving is based on the numerical 18 which signifies the Hebrew chai or life. There are four levels of suggested contributions named after Judaic biblical foremothers; Sarah donors- contributions of $216 will receive a reusable shopping tote filled with all of the other following gifts: Rebecca donors at a contribution level of $108 will receive a set of 8 inspirational Sim Shalom note cards printed on recyclable papers; Rachel donors at $54 an embroidered kippah, and Leah contributors at $18 -a car decal.
