Chromalox Awarded US Patent for DirectConnect™ Heating Technology
Pittsburgh, PA, USA (PRWEB) May 11, 2016 -- Chromalox, the leader in advanced thermal technologies, today announced its awarding of a United States Patent for its medium voltage DirectConnect™ heating products.
Conventional electric resistance, metal-sheathed heating has been limited to operating at 1,000 volts. Chromalox has created a breakthrough in heating technology that allows voltages of up to 7,200V to be used in multiple heating products. A combination of material science, design engineering, and proprietary manufacturing techniques were used to develop the DirectConnect heating system.
Compared to a traditional low voltage design, DirectConnect products can slash installation costs up to 90% and also improve operational efficiency. By harnessing the power of higher voltage, users can gain the benefit of zero on-site emissions, while providing the easy, scalable power control electric heat is known for.
Mark Wheeler, Global Product Director of Packaged Systems and Service states that DirectConnect can be applied to almost any heater design.
“Customers have instantly recognized the financial savings DirectConnect provides for their heating project. Chromalox has several sites already operating with DirectConnect products and our customers are pleased with the heater operation and appreciate the immediate payback,” he adds.
DirectConnect is capable of handling voltages up to 7,200V. Typical products include immersion and circulation heaters, heat transfer systems, steam boilers, and vaporizers. Operators in such markets as power generation, petrochemical, and oil & gas are ideal users due to the large inherent heating demands at their facilities.
DirectConnect is part of Chromalox’s PowerV™ Technology platform. The science of PowerV Technology drives the usage of higher voltage in many Chromalox products to achieve installation and operating cost reduction.
