Dr. Hafford specializes in bariatric and minimally invasive general surgery, including laparoscopic gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and anti-reflux operations. She will be working as the clinic’s Bariatric Surgeon, as well as teaming up with R. Bernard Rochon, MD in General Surgery. Dr. Hafford attended Emory University for her undergraduate studies and went on to complete medical school at Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine. She moved to Texas for her General Surgery Residency at University of Texas Southwestern, along with a fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. During her time at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, she served as Assistant Professor of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Interim Director of UT Southwestern Bariatric Program, and Assistant Director of Advanced Laparoscopy/Bariatric Fellowship Program.
Over the years, Dr. Hafford has received awards and recognition, including the Karl Storz IRCAD Fellow Award. This prestigious annual national award allowed her to travel to France to train in advanced endoscopic techniques. She has given presentations around the United States and has collaborated with several physicians on medical publications. Dr. Hafford is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, and American Medical Association.
As an accomplished bariatric surgeon, Dr. Hafford offers a free, regularly scheduled Bariatric Surgery information seminar where attendees can learn more about weight loss surgery, get questions answered, and find out about proper nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
