Lone Mountain Ranch today announced it has joined National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World. The Unique Lodges portfolio includes a total of 45 members on six continents. Launched in January 2015, the properties in the Unique Lodges collection offer a host of authentic and responsible travel experiences. Lone Mountain Ranch is among an exclusive group of distinguished properties whom have each demonstrated their commitment to authenticity, excellence, and sustainability, while offering outstanding guest experiences that support the protection of cultural and natural heritage.

First homesteaded in 1915, Lone Mountain Ranch has long been recognized as one of the premier guest ranches in the country. Listed on the National Registry of the Historic Places, Lone Mountain Ranch is a respected member of the Dude Rancher’s Association, an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge, as well as an award-winning cross country ski destination. Lone Mountain Ranch offers a stunning array of outdoor activities including professionally guided tours of Yellowstone National Park and world class alpine skiing at nearby Big Sky Resort. Lone Mountain Ranch delivers authentic experiences that are life-inspiring.

“Lone Mountain Ranch’s history, heritage and connection to the community, plus its unique position as a gateway to Yellowstone National Park, creates a natural synergy with National Geographic’s mission and purpose,” said Paul Makarechian, CEO, Makar Properties. “We are honored to be a part of the National Geographic family and plan to continue to expand the relationship for years to come.”

National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World offers travelers a full-service experience from booking to checkout. Travelers can browse all of the properties on the Unique Lodges Website and request a reservation at the lodge.

Guests that book through National Geographic Unique Lodges will receive a "National Geographic Exclusive" experience.  Lone Mountain Ranch has curated two exclusive experiences based on seasonality.  In the warmer months, guests are invited to join a naturalist for a guided walk along the Gallatin River, where you'll learn about the key factors involved in preserving and protecting the watershed before enjoying a delicious stream-side picnic.  During the winter season, guests will join a historian to hear stories from early days at the ranch, followed by a private chef's dinner featuring local ingredients and Western cuisine.
