Troy, Michigan (PRWEB) May 25, 2016
Troy, Michigan-based intellectual property law firm Young Basile Hanlon & MacFarlane, P.C. announced its support for VR Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing therapeutic virtual reality to mobility impaired and hospital bound kids. The son of Young Basile shareholder Jeff Wilson served as the source of inspiration for VR Kids.
R.J. Sampson of Las Vegas, Nevada, founder and Executive Director of VR Kids, had the idea to create virtual reality programs for kids with special needs after viewing a video online of Wilson’s son, who is wheelchair bound due to cerebral palsy, excitedly playing a virtual reality video game. "We believe therapeutic VR should be accessible to enhance the lives of children who could benefit the most. Our customizable experiences are built to be relaxing, friendly, fun and are optimized for those who spend most of their time in a bed or chair," Sampson said.
Sampson and Wilson eventually connected, and the Young Basile firm has become a sponsor and supporter of VR Kids. "When I shared the story with my partners and other colleagues, they enthusiastically donated to support the organization," Wilson said. "The firm has also become a corporate sponsor."
"Our attorneys are very active in their communities and in the organizations that hold special meaning to them, and the firm is happy to support their efforts," said Andrew R. Basile, Jr., the firm’s president. "As VR Kids was inspired by our firm’s extended family, it was even more meaningful for us to enthusiastically demonstrate our support."
"We are happy to have made the connection with the Wilson family who inspired our mission and with Young Basile. We hope to create more partnerships and generate additional support going forward, so that VR Kids can bring the virtual reality experience to more children who can benefit from it," said Sampson.
With offices in Michigan, California, Illinois and Pennsylvania, Young Basile provides a full range of intellectual property and commercial legal services to global and national clients in technology-intensive industries, including software, automotive, electronics and medical devices.
