I AM JAVA Coffee House in Murphysboro, Illinois Joins Crimson Cup Community of Independent Coffee Houses
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) June 30, 2016 -- Columbus, Ohio coffee roaster Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea, Roast magazine’s 2016 Macro Roaster of the Year, has added I AM JAVA Coffee House to its growing community of independent coffee houses in 29 states, Guam and Bangladesh. Located at 715 North 14th Street in Murphysboro, Illinois, I AM JAVA is the creation of local entrepreneurs Dena and Ronnie Hale.
“We’re excited to welcome Dena and Ronnie to the independent coffee house community!” said Crimson Cup Founder and President Greg Ubert. “Their commitment to coffee and community makes them an awesome addition to the Crimson Cup family.”
U.S. Army veteran Dena Hale and her husband, Murphysboro native Ronnie Hale, have been business owners for several years, operating the 14th St. Laundromat in Murphysboro. Dena Hale also teaches marketing at Southeast Missouri State University.
When a space in their building became available for another business, the Hales debated whether to turn the former garage into a motorcycle detail shop or coffee shop. Coffee won, thanks to Dena Hale’s passion for a great cup of java and the ambition of Ronnie Hale’s niece Brandy Chandler and her late husband Travis, who had dreamed of opening a coffee house and bakery in town.
To learn how to open a coffee shop, the Hales turned to Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea, which offers comprehensive training through its 7 Steps to Success coffee franchise alternative program. Based on Ubert’s book Seven Steps to Success in the Specialty Coffee Industry, the program provides everything new business owners need to open and operate a successful coffee house.
Through this coffee franchise alternative, Crimson Cup has helped hundreds of independent coffee shops develop thriving businesses. “Over the past year alone, we have helped a dozen new business owners realize their dream of running an independent coffee business,” Ubert said.
“Our Seven Steps program offers all the support of a coffee franchise – and more – but without franchise fees, royalties or business restrictions,” he added. “Our consulting services, which include coffee shop business plan development, site evaluation, on-site training, marketing materials, menu ideas and much more, are all designed to help reduce costs, increase profits and eliminate potential headaches.”
After completing their 7-Steps training, the Hales opened I AM JAVA at the end of May. In addition to a full menu hot and cold espresso, cappuccino, latte and mocha drinks, drip coffee, smoothies, and hot and iced teas, I AM JAVA features innovative beverages such as Crimson Cup’s Nitro cold-brewed coffee.
The Christian-based coffeehouse focuses on providing a great experience in the Murphysboro community and supporting local causes. In June, for examples, all tips are being donated to the Murphysboro Food Pantry. As of June 16, the coffee house had donated $200. Coffeehouse staff consists primarily of friends and family, including daughter Lecia Hale, niece Brandy Chandler, her daughter Haley Chandler, and cousin Kyler Worthen.
