HUNTINGTON, NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 25, 2016 -- In their ongoing efforts to increase patient access to comprehensive eye care on Long Island, North Shore Eye Care announced today the addition of award-winning ophthalmologist Craig Richter, MD to their medical staff, who will begin seeing patients at their 9th office location in Huntington on August 1, 2016, according to Jeffrey Martin, MD, managing partner of North Shore Eye Care, a division of SightMD
While serving as a solo ophthalmic practitioner in Huntington, Dr. Richter has won the Patients’ Choice Award five times and the Compassionate Doctor Award five times. “Our dedication to personal patient care has always been at the core of our service commitment to patients,” said Dr. Richter, adding that it runs parallel to the overall patient approach taken at North Shore Eye Care, a division of SightMD.

Dr. Richter specializes in cataract removal and lens implantation. Prior to joining North Shore Eye Care, a division of SightMD Dr. Richter was practicing in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Patchogue, and Huntington. “Having practiced in New York for nearly 20 years, I am quite familiar with the exceptional quality of ophthalmic care and surgical expertise of North Shore Eye Care,” said Dr. Richter. “It is truly an honor to join a team of eye care professionals who are dedicated not only to the pursuit of the latest breakthroughs in ophthalmology, but also the highest levels of personal patient care.”
After graduating from Cornell University with a B.A. in Biology, Dr. Richter received his Medical Degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his postdoctoral training at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary and finished his Internship at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in New York. His hospital affiliations include Huntington Hospital, Syosset and an ambulatory surgery center affiliation with the Long Island Eye Surgical Center.
Early in his medical career, Dr. Richter was active in ophthalmic research. He investigated the use of 3-dimensional ultrasound of intraocular foreign bodies and helped draft protocols at New York Eye & Ear Infirmary for picosecond laser iridectomy, trabecular ablation and posterior capsulotomy in humans. His early research also included designing computer simulation for Apple Computer publication Syllabuus on the effect of ADII on water balance, which replaced several medical school lectures.
