Annapolis, MD (PRWEB) July 27, 2016
The convention will be held in San Diego, CA, August 1-5, 2016.
Resolutions acknowledging that there is a strong movement to develop a comprehensive, balanced energy policy that cultivates traditional energy sources, including nuclear energy, as well as alternative sources, such as geothermal, biofuels, solar, wind and other alternatives, will be introduced at the convention. As we seek to transform to a clean energy economy, a realistic balanced policy is needed to ensure we maintain a safe, adequate, reliable supply of energy to meet growing demand. These resolutions further state that: “the development of a more diverse energy portfolio will provide greater energy security and offer new ways to promote economic growth.” While “expanded extraction of oil and natural gas in the U.S. and Canada may help meet demand in the short run, a more comprehensive long term strategy is needed to ensure adequate energy supply will be available to continue to grow the economies of our countries and ultimately achieve energy independence.”
The UA has long called for a progressive energy policy that includes features to promote safe, reliable project delivery in this sector by including, for example, effective workforce development programs which ensure that workers in this industry have the skills needed to build and maintain sustainable technologies and the next generation of power generating facilities.
