airberlin increases flights to Germany as of summer 2017
Miami - Berlin-Tegel: now year round
airberlin is strengthening its long-haul network to the United States as the airline expands its flight program from Miami to Berlin by adding three weekly nonstop flights in summer 2017. Flights from Miami to Berlin will therefore be a year-round nonstop service as of this winter – with four weekly flights in winter and three during summer in addition to the daily flights to Dusseldorf. This network improvement proves the increasing importance of the hub in Dusseldorf and the long-haul network to North America. The flights connect smoothly with many destinations within the airline’s global network.
"airberlin has already seen a strong expansion of its US network this year as we added two new destinations Boston and San Francisco and several frequencies to our existing US network. The further expansion of our US operations as of summer 2017 including the new flights from Miami shows that we are determined to continue on our path to position airberlin as a premium network carrier with a strong US footprint and an excellent proposition even for the most discerning business traveller,” said Stefan Pichler, Chief Executive Officer at airberlin.
“At our hub in Berlin and Dusseldorf airberlin is the carrier with the highest number of flights to the US already this year. By further enhancing our long-haul network we continue to strengthen our leading market position and sharpen our profile as a network carrier with a highly attractive portfolio”, Stefan Pichler adds.
In total, airberlin flies nonstop from eight US-destinations in summer 2017 to Dusseldorf and Berlin: Miami, Orlando (new), Fort Myers, New York (JFK), Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The new flights from Miami and Orlando bring the total number of weekly flights from the three destinations in Florida up to 19 in summer 2017.
All Airbus A330-200 operating these flights are equipped with airberlin’s premium long-haul product: 19 seats in the exclusive FullFlat Business Class section and 271 Economy Class seats, including 46 XL Seats, which offer around 20 per cent more legroom.
