Imagine Learning Raises Over 20K for Charity During Flash Fundraiser
PROVO, UT (PRWEB) August 16, 2016 -- Imagine Learning, Utah developer of language and literacy software for elementary children, together with its parent company Weld North, recently raised over $20,000 during a flash fundraiser benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, Operation Underground Railroad, Habitat for Humanity, and the Imagine Kids Foundation.
During a company-wide fundraising challenge on July 11, 2016, Imagine Learning employees assembled in 20 groups of fifteen. At the onset, each group received twenty dollars of seed money to help fulfill its chosen fundraising activity. Only a few hours later, all groups returned to corporate headquarters with collected funds in hand. Read details
“By teaching language and literacy to the children of the world, we believe we change lives and open doors of opportunity for children,” says Carol Nibley, vice president of human resources at Imagine Learning. “But we also enjoy supporting like-minded organizations that care about kids. Our flash fundraiser was an exciting way to do just that.”
Featured Charities
Because each group of employees focused its fundraising efforts on any of four suggested charities, funding totals varied, with the largest amounts going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® (Memphis, Tennessee) and to Operation Underground Railroad (Draper, Utah and Anaheim, California).
Remaining funds went to nearby charities Habitat for Humanity (Orem, Utah) and the Imagine Kids Foundation (Provo, Utah).
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® is leading the way the world understands, by treating and defeating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food--because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since the hospital first opened more than 50 years ago. These efforts won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
By raising funds for St. Jude, Imagine Learning joins other volunteers around the world in a combined effort to end childhood cancer.
Operation Underground Railroad
Founded in December 2013,Operation Underground Railroad(O.U.R.) aims to eliminate a different plague—the plague of child trafficking and child exploitation around the world. Its Underground Jump Team consists of former CIA, Navy SEALs, and Special Ops personnel who lead coordinated identification and extraction efforts. Once victims are rescued, a comprehensive process involving justice for perpetrators and recovery/rehabilitation for survivors begins.
“At O.U.R., we’re still small and nimble, doing a million things at once, says Jerry Gowen, chief operating officer. “By donating funds to our cause, Imagine Learning has allowed us the time and resources to keep doing the things that matter most—rescuing victims of human trafficking and bringing the traffickers to justice.”
Habitat for Humanity, Utah County
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Utah County helps lift people, fosters hope, and unites diverse groups to improving the lives of individuals, families, and communities by building, renovating, and repairing homes.
“Habitat for Humanity—including our two local ReStores—helps the community in multiple ways,” says Restore Director Rick McBride at Habitat for Humanity of Utah County. “For one thing, homeowners appreciate being able to purchase used building materials and home accessories at the ReStore. Those purchases make it possible for us to defray our overhead costs and continue building Habitat for Humanity homes. Also, when organizations such as Imagine Learning help raise cash donations, those funds go a long way toward helping fellow community members in need. Everyone benefits.”
Imagine Kids Foundation
During classroom visits in 2010, Imagine Learning employees met a boy named Christian whose example would inspire them to create a non-profit organization on behalf of children across the country. In December 2013, the Imagine Kids Foundation was born. Today, the foundation continues to assist educators and students, nurture minds, and educate beyond borders.
“Donations are the life blood of any charitable organization,” says Karen Cox, board member of the Imagine Kids Foundation. “Every teacher project we fund or college scholarship we award makes a huge difference to teachers and students even beyond the classroom. It’s also great when others recognize our efforts and want to help. That’s what keeps the cause alive.”
