Remote Medical International Offers New Tactical Medicine Course
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) September 09, 2016 -- A global leader in the provision of remote medical training and support services, Remote Medical International® (RMI) is pleased to announce the addition of Tactical Medicine Awareness Training (TMAT) to its broad range of courses. A hands-on class, the TMAT is designed for security professionals, law enforcement officers, or military personnel with previous tactical training or civilians interested in the principles of tactical medicine. Students are taught the medical skills needed to provide life-saving intervention to both team members and other individuals in hostile situations, active shooter incidents, and car accidents. Additionally, the course refreshes students on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) core principles and Combat Lifesaver (CLS) concepts.
According to the Squad Overmatch TC3 study conducted by the US Army, 87% of US military combat wound fatalities occur before the casualty reaches a medical treatment facility. The study concluded that having access to the right resources and training in the tactical environment could have prevented nearly a quarter of those deaths.
“Remote Medical International is very proud to offer our new TMAT course, which allows us to help our clients receive the knowledge and skills required to administer life-saving techniques in a prehospital setting,” said Kevin Thompson, Director of Business Development at Remote Medical International. “In a hostile situation, it is very easy to become disoriented or distracted by what is going on around you or overwhelmed at the physical output required to provide critical care. The TMAT’s scenarios simulate the stressors involved and prepare students to act appropriately before emergency medical services can be accessed.”
Students learn how to properly:
- Assess a scene, mitigate threats, and extract patients in high-risk situations
- Assess patients, control hemorrhages, and manage traumatic injuries
- Respond to mass casualty and motor vehicle incidents
The eight-hour course is available as a private training for groups or organizations. Remote Medical International has provided remote and wilderness medical training to over 17,000 students worldwide and their training courses range from Basic First Aid to an advanced Remote Medicine for the Advanced Provider course for medical professionals, as well as Remote Medicine Awareness Training for global travelers. RMI certifications are accredited, respected, and accepted by a wide range of military, commercial, and non-governmental organizations.
