GIPSA Approves Charm Sciences' ROSA WET-S5 Fumonisin Quantitative Test
Lawrence, MA (PRWEB) October 06, 2016 -- Charm Sciences, Inc. is pleased to announce approval from USDA’s Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) verifying the performance of ROSA WET-S5 Fumonisin Quantitative Test (FUMQ-WETS5) for corn, corn germ meal, Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS), oats, popcorn, sorghum, and wheat.
“Fumonisins are a toxin prevalent to grains that can affect the health of animals and humans,” stated Mark Tess, PhD, Mycotoxin Product Manager for Charm Sciences. “We are excited to add this test to our growing number of water extraction tests with GIPSA approval.”
The ROSA WET-S5 Fumonisin Quantitative Test provides quantitative fumonisin results in 5 minutes using Water Extraction Technology (WET), an extraction method that uses a non-hazardous extraction powder added to the sample followed by water to extract fumonisin without the use of methanol or ethanol. The WET method can use a single extraction for multiple mycotoxins, including aflatoxin, deoxynivalenol (DON), fumonisin, and zearalenone. WET mycotoxin tests are manufactured for each mycotoxin.
In addition to the GIPSA approved commodities, the FUMQ-WETS5 test is Charm validated for barley, millet, and rough rice.
