Oncology Advanced Practitioner Society Expands
Lawrenceville, NJ (PRWEB) November 02, 2016 -- The Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO) today announced that Anne Courtney, ACNP-BC, AOCNP®, and Kate Jeffers, PharmD, BCOP, have been elected to serve on APSHO’s Board of Directors. They begin their terms on November 4, 2016, at the APSHO Annual Meeting that takes place in conjunction with the JADPRO Live at APSHO conference in National Harbor, MD.
“As APSHO continues to grow, it is essential that we expand our leadership to reflect the skills and expertise of advanced practitioners in oncology,” said Pamela Hallquist Viale, RN, MS, CNS, ANP, APSHO President. “Ms. Courtney and Dr. Jeffers both exemplify their commitment to providing interprofessional care for people with cancer through the collaborative practice model.”

“As our patient population grows, APSHO provides an essential voice to ensure our places on the front lines of patient care,” emphasized Dr. Jeffers.
APSHO was founded only two short years ago with significant and steady growth in membership — today there are more than 1,200 NP, PA, and PharmD APSHO members.
Anne Courtney, ACNP-BC, AOCNP®, is a nurse practitioner at Texas Oncology-Round Rock with more than nine years of inpatient and outpatient nursing experience in both academic and nonacademic settings and with a focus on medical oncology and oncology thoracic surgery. She has led efforts championing the role of the AP by initiating NP quality measures and standards within the Division of Thoracic Surgery at UCLA.
Kate Jeffers, PharmD, BCOP, is an Ambulatory Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and PGY1 Residency Program Director at UCHealth – Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. She provides direct patient care and education to patients at all stages of their disease. A longtime supporter of APSHO, Jeffers has been published in the official journal of APSHO, the Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology (JADPRO), and has been a speaker at past JADPRO Live at APSHO conferences.
