Eating Recovery Center, Carolinas Announces New Intensive Outpatient Program
Columbia, SC (PRWEB) November 08, 2016 -- Eating Recovery Center, Carolinas (ERC, Carolinas), a trusted provider of comprehensive treatment for eating disorders, announced today it is expanding its services to offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults. Located near the campus of the University of South Carolina in downtown Columbia, SC, this expansion will extend ERC’s continued commitment of increasing access to the very best care for patients, families and providers in the treatment of—and recovery from—eating disorders and related conditions in the region.
ERC, Carolinas (formerly the Riley Center) is headquartered in Greenville, SC, with existing services including Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Program for adolescents and adults. It is led by Executive Director Beth Riley, LISW-CP, CEDS. Sue Connolly Nelson, LISW-CP, CEDS will manage the Columbia Program. Combined they have 45 years of experience treating and working with eating disorder patients.
ERC, Carolinas Columbia Intensive Outpatient Program will accommodate 8 adult patients, both male and female, and offer 9 hours of treatment per week (3 hours over 3 days), with additional treatment as needed, including weekly therapy and nutrition appointments. ERC’s treatment approach includes evidence-based interventions and coordination of care with outpatient providers to ensure relapse prevention and long lasting recovery. The IOP treatment team, consisting of Registered Dietitians, family therapists, and individual therapists, will use various treatment modalities including on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition, the IOP curriculum emphasizes recovery skills, as well as offers nutrition education, supported meals, and meal-outings
