Grant-A-Starr Hosts Cure for Tomorrow Gala - A Night of a Million Starrs
Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 03, 2016 -- The Grant-A-Starr Foundation (http://www.grantastarr.org) is proud to present the Cure for Tomorrow Gala – A night of a million Starrs taking place on November 10, 2016 starting at 6 p.m.
One of the Grant-A-Starr Foundation's key fundraising events, the annual Cure for Tomorrow Gala is a special evening and dinner benefiting the advancement of diagnostic testing to save children’s lives. This year's gala will celebrate the foundation approaching a major milestone of raising $1 million in donations to save children’s lives through early diagnosis.
"The Grant-A-Starr Foundation Gala is one of the Foundation's major fundraising events for the year," said Rod Starr, Founder of the Foundation. "We raised about $90,000 in total from our past galas and this year's gala contributions should help us surpass a Foundation milestone of $1 million in giving to Texas Children's Hospital and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital since the inception of the Foundation in 2006. The gala has been an important function for the Foundation since many of our donors invite, colleagues, family and friends to the event who, in turn, become supporting members of the the Foundation and its mission to advance diagnostic testing for childhood diseases."
Now in its 3rd year, the Cure for Tomorrow Gala will be generously hosted by the Cordua Family and their flagship restaurant Artista. The event will take place at the Founders Club on the Mezzanine level of the Hobby Center for Performing Arts in downtown Houston. Restaurateur Michael Cordúa and Executive Chef David Cordúa, ranked one of the top ten chefs in Texas, of Cordúa Restaurants will be present to announce the menu. It will be emceed by Ms. Jacquie Baly, President of BalyProjects LLC and leader in Houston region’s business and policy communities for more than two decades.
For the third consecutive year Houston’s leading artist Edgar Medina will paint live at the Gala for auction at the end of the evening. In addition, leading research doctors - Dr. Versalovic, M.D., Ph.D., from Texas Children's Hospital and Dr. Hasbun M.D., M.P.H., from Children’s Memorial Hermann - will be in attendance to discuss their life-saving medical research supported by the foundation. All proceeds from the event go directly to these research projects for life-saving advancements in diagnostic testing to detect early childhood diseases.
