The Money Source Employees Raise Funds for Louisiana Flood Victims Through Employee Engagement Software Platform
Melville, N.Y. (PRWEB) November 14, 2016 -- Employees at The Money Source have sent thousands of dollars in donations to Louisiana residents recovering from the worst local flooding in a decade – and used employee recognition points to make it possible.
The Money Source, a national lender based in New York, has been using employee recognition software YouEarnedIt to empower employees to reward each other for great work. But, beginning in August, the software platform was put to use supporting the tens of thousands of Louisiana residents who lost homes in a flood that has been called the worst U.S. natural disaster since Hurricane Katrina.
Instead of amassing the points for rewards such as gift cards, extra vacation days, or meals, The Money Source, under the banner of their non-profit Pink Unicorn Foundation, gave employees the option to donate their YouEarnedIt points as cash to Louisiana flood victims. Hundreds of employees eagerly responded and The Money Source matched each employee contribution dollar for dollar, doubling the employee donation total.
Employees from The Money Source’s offices across the nation donated to the cause, allowing the Pink Unicorn Foundation to send nearly $13,000 to Louisiana Association of United Ways, where 100 percent of the funds will go directly to the flood relief and recovery efforts.
The donations will help the rebuilding effort in Louisiana, after more than 20 inches of rain fell across the state in August, resulting in widespread flooding that damaged more than 100,000 homes.
“We’re proud to join our employees in supporting the Louisiana residents whose lives were altered by the recent flood,” said Darius Mirshahzadeh, CEO of The Money Source. “One of our company’s core values is ‘people matter,’ and we are honored to have a workforce that puts that core value into action by donating to the Louisiana residents who need our help.”
The donation is among the first efforts of the new Pink Unicorn Foundation, which is the charitable giving and volunteer arm of The Money Source. The foundation will continue to engage in nationwide charitable causes as it expands and matures.
