The prestigious award honors the top collegiate defensive football player in the country, and is presented annually by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association of America, non-profit organizations committed to promoting sportsmanship through football in the Charlotte region.
This year’s finalists are: Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen, Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster, Florida State defensive back Tarvarus McFadden, Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers and Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins.
The keynote address for the banquet will be given by Duke University Head Football Coach, David Cutcliffe. United States Naval Academy legend from the Class of 1975, Chet Moeller, will receive this year’s Bronko Nagurski Legends Award and the inaugural Defender of the Nation Award will go to West Point’s Andrew King.
