100% Online, Mentor-Based Program Begins January 30th

"Story-Centered Curricula methodology has shown to consistently outperform both classroom and traditional online courses, in the transfer of skills from the learning environment to the work place."

LabsIOT, an innovative provider of online, experience-based education, is excited to announce the establishment of its new Data Science Certificate. Following overwhelming industry demand for employees who have technical skills in data analysis, LabsIOT will be offering this mentor-led program, which focuses on solving real life data problems through experience-based learning. Designed by current and former faculty of Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, and Yale Universities, the Data Science Certificate Program will begin its first programs on January 30th.

Students participating in the program will have the option of completing either a 22-week or 44-week Data Science Certificate, allowing them to study on a full or part-time basis. The Certificate includes 4 modules: Understanding Customers, Predicting Profitability and Customer Preferences, Web Mining and Deep Analytics and Visualization.

The LabsIOT Data Science certificate was developed using a “Story-Centered Curricula” approach, in which students are placed in authentic professional roles, which challenges them to solve real-world problems. Students do not work in isolation – they collaborate in small groups to complete projects, as well as participate in informal collaborative workshops. Each student is supported by an experienced mentor who guides, rather than lectures them. These mentors are individuals with decades of experience in Data Science and Machine Learning, allowing LabsIOT students to learn and thrive in data science.

"The Data Science Certificate provides critical skills to individuals wanting to supplement their skill set or start a new career in data science," said MS Reddy, Chief Curriculum Officer of LabsIOT. "Students acquire technical skills and real-world experience at a realistic pace conducive to learning.”

Graduates of the Data Science Certificate Program will gain:

  •     A broad range of job-ready skills
  •     A Certificate of Completion
  •     A portfolio of professional quality work to present to future employers
  •     End-to-end project experience working on real-life challenges with Data Science

Individuals completing the Data Science Certificate also benefit from LabsIOT’s specialty career services, which include resume editing, interview coaching, as well as access to top-tier corporate partners for interview opportunities. LabsIOT will provide placement assistance to students with companies looking for data science professionals.

Grace Amberson, Director of Business Development for LabsIOT said, "LabsIOT is excited to introduce this ground-breaking program in response to the demand for Data Science practitioners across the industry. Story-Centered Curricula methodology has shown to consistently outperform both classroom and traditional online courses, in the transfer of skills from the learning environment to the work place. We believe this to be a valuable option for individuals who have no computer science or programming background.”
