The 2016 Holiday Season Kicks off With the 11th Annual National Mutt Day Celebration
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 01, 2016 -- National Mutt Day, also known as National Mixed Breed Dog Day, will be celebrated on December 2nd and presented by the upcoming film, A Dog’s Purpose—in theaters on January 27th. Based on the beloved bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron, From director Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules, Dear John, The 100-Foot Journey), A Dog’s Purpose shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog (voiced by Josh Gad) who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love.
The family film told from the dog’s perspective, also stars Britt Robertson, KJ Apa, John Ortiz, Juliet Rylance, Luke Kirby, Peggy Lipton, Pooch Hall and Dennis Quaid. A Dog’s Purpose is produced by Gavin Polone (Zombieland, TV’s Gilmore Girls). The film from Amblin Entertainment and Walden Media will be distributed by Universal. http://www.adogspurposemovie.com
National Mutt Day, also known as National Mixed Breed Dog Day, was created in 2005 by celebrity pet & family lifestyle expert and animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige and is celebrated on both July 31st and December 2nd. National Mutt Day is all about embracing, saving and celebrating mixed-breed dogs. The biggest percentage of dogs abandoned and euthanized is due to the constant over-breeding and public desire of designer dogs and pure-bred puppies that are sold to pet stores supplied by puppy mills that often produce ill and horribly neglected animals.
On National Mutt Day, please visit your local shelter and find a new friend. If you can’t adopt a mixed breed friend on July 31st or December 2nd, please donate at least $5 to your local animal shelter, as they all need financial assistance and every dollar counts. You can also volunteer to walk a dog, donate food and other supplies needed to your local animal shelter or make a donation in the memory of a loved dog who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Other National Mutt Day sponsors include The Secret Life of Pets, America’s top-grossing original film of the year, available now on Digital HD, and on Blu-ray & DVD on December 6th. The film includes the voice talents of Louis CK, Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey, Hannibal Buress, Bobby Moynihan, Steve Coogan and Albert Brooks. The perfect way to celebrate the holidays with your pet, The Secret Life of Pets is a comedy about the lives our pets lead when we are not at home. The Digital and Blu-ray versions include three hilarious mini-movies and tons of bonus features. Additionally, the Pet & Play” truck is visiting NY, Miami, LA and Dallas from 12/1 – 12/16 to promote “The Secret Life of Pets” and will be carrying adoptable puppies, kittens and rabbits to visit the public. http://www.thesecretlifeofpets.com
