Inaugural National Notebook Day Celebration Slated for May 19, 2016
Austin, TX (PRWEB) May 17, 2016 -- Paper enthusiasts everywhere will collectively celebrate their love of writing notebooks on May 19, 2016 with the inaugural celebration of National Notebook Day.
In an age dominated by the temporal and digital, notebooks are a refreshing holdout from another generation. That’s not to say they are outdated, with notebook companies are experiencing double-digit growth despite with the increasing digitization of every industry.
“The notebook and planner community is so vibrant and alive,” said Mica May, CEO of custom notebook company May Designs. “If anything, our customers have become even more dedicated to paper over the past few years. There’s this amazing connection between writing something down that you can’t get typing it into your phone or laptop.”
There’s a unique relationship with putting pen to paper - one that has psychological benefits, too - according to one recent study by the Journal of Psychological Science.
A group of college students were split into two groups: One group who took notes on a laptop and another who took notes longhand. The group who wrote their notes down performed significantly better on exams asking them to later recall facts from a lecture.
Even technology-driven Silicon Valley has jumped on the notebook bandwagon, with many CEO’s eschewing distracting note taking apps in favor of notebooks.
Participants are encouraged to proudly put pen to paper by writing in their notebook or planner and by sharing photos of their sewn and spiral-bound friends with the hashtag #NationalNotebookDay.
The annual national holiday will take place on the third Thursday of May each year.
