2016 iaedp™ Symposium Announces Entries for the Imagine Me Art Competition
Pekin, IL (PRWEB) January 28, 2016 -- The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp) announces the 2016 entries in the 6th annual “Imagine Me Beyond What You See” body image mannequin art competition, sponsored by ASCENDchc. From the 15 entries submitted, the top five finalists will be showcased and the winner revealed at the 30th annual iaedp Symposium, February 17 – 22, at the Omni on Amelia Island in Florida.
Entries include mannequins created in collaboration between clients, residents, counselors and art therapists from treatment centers, both residential and outpatient, hospital, and private practice. The mixed-medium works are judged on clarity of theme, creativity and originality, quality of composition and design and the overall impression and presentation of the artwork. The 2016 judges include Michelle Dean, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, CG, Board Certified Art Psychotherapist and Professional Member of American Art Therapy Association; Fritz Liedtke, photographic and fine artist; Leigh Cohn, MAT, CEDS, author, artist and owner of Gurze Books; and Carol Dietrich, RN, MA, LMFT, RDT, individual and family therapist.
“The diverse and creative responses to this year’s challenge were inspiring, and we appreciate the artists’ efforts to push the boundaries of form, structure, and identity through their visual representations,” said judge, Michelle Dean. “The artists’ descriptions communicate powerful themes. We wish the courageous individuals who participated in this project, and those who are not yet on their journey, the strength and fortitude to claim their path of recovery.”

Imagine Me Beyond What You See Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 18 during iaedp’s Opening Night events at the 2016 Symposium. The evening begins with iaedp’s signature International Flag Procession, spotlighting the International and United States Chapter Delegations. The Imagine Me Awards presentation will include the Professionals’ Choice Award, voted on by iaedp membership, 2016 Symposium attendees and the general public.
