The achievement of being Master Certified Flight Instructor is yet another feather in the cap of APS' world-leading team of Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) experts.

Aviation Performance Solutions (APS) is proud to announce that Robert 'KB' Brannum recently earned the Master Certified Flight Instructor (MCFI) designation, with the additional Aerobatic distinction, accredited by Master Instructors LLC. Robert joins 8 other APS instructor pilots holding the MCFI-Aerobatic designation.
Robert “KB” Brannum joined Aviation Performance Solutions in July, 2015 as an Advanced Instructor Pilot and is currently stationed at APS' military location in Dothan, Alabama as a senior instructor upset training and check airman. KB is a retired United States Air Force (USAF) Lieutenant Colonel and his military flying career includes flying and serving as a flight instructor in the RF-4, T-38, F-16, CA-212, C-12, C-208 and PC-6 aircraft. apstraining.com/brannum/
The MCFI-A achievement represents a true dedication to excellence in flying and safety. Master Instructors LLC states, “There are approximately 101,000 CFIs in the United States. Fewer than 800 aviation educators worldwide have achieved one or more of the Master accreditations thus far...Robert is one of only 35 Arizona aviation educators to earn the prestigious ‘Master’ title and one of only 39 worldwide to earn aerobatic accreditation.”
“At APS, we are dedicated not only to hiring the industry's finest all-attitude flight instructors, but also to supporting them in their dedicated on-going efforts to round their expertise and professional involvement in the aviation industry as they work to save lives. Industry leadership in Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) starts with having, maintaining and continually growing aviation's best UPRT flight instructors,“ says Paul 'BJ' Ransbury, president of Aviation Performance Solutions. “As stated by the FAA in multiple advisory circulars, and as ICAO reaffirms in their Manual on Aeroplane UPRT, ICAO Doc 10011, a well-qualified instructor is the most essential component in the delivery of effective UPRT. The achievement of MCFI-A status is an important milestone for APS instructor pilots within their first year of employment, along with their extensive background experience and unmatched in-house UPRT-specific training.”
ABOUT THE MASTER INSTRUCTOR DESIGNATION
The Master Instructor designation is a national accreditation recognized by the FAA. Candidates must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence, professional growth, and service to the aviation community, and must pass a rigorous evaluation by a peer Board of Review. The process parallels the continuing education regimen used by other professionals to enhance their knowledge base while increasing their professionalism. Designees are recognized as outstanding aviation educators for not only their excellence in teaching, but also for their engagement in the continuous process of learning — both their own, and their students’. The designation must be renewed biennially and significantly surpasses the FAA requirements for renewal of the candidate’s flight instructor certificate.
