Aimetis Symphony is the video management software (VMS) of choice to help maintain strict security during the Formula One Grand Prix in Shanghai

We changed out the whole system [in] 2015. I think the new [Symphony] system is very stable and more [efficient].

Aimetis Corp., a global leader in intelligent video management software, today announced that the Shanghai International Circuit is successfully securing the facility for world class racing events, like the Formula One, with Aimetis Symphony VMS.

With over 160,000 spectators at the Formula One Grand Prix, the Shanghai International Circuit wanted to maximize system uptime during mission critical operations. Having an “always on” system is important because they monitor each segment of the track for safety and maintenance.

“We changed out the whole system [in] 2015,” said Sun Laing, Operation Manager, Shanghai International Circuit, Shanghai. “I think the new [Symphony] system is very stable and more [efficient].”

The nature of the fast-paced racing industry also means the need for responsive, reliable support. With Aimetis, the Shanghai International Circuit has a team of support specialists available 24 hrs/day if needed.

Sun Laing continued, “I think it’s very important if you can support [us] on site. If something happens, maybe emergency during the race, your support is very important and very necessary.”

With Maintenance & Support, the Shanghai International Circuit has a team of support agents and developers at its disposal to help alleviate any issue they may have. Support staff takes the time to talk through the setup, calibration, and optimization of any Aimetis product, including Aimetis Symphony™ video management software.

“We’re motivated by the success the Shanghai International Circuit has had with Symphony at the front of their deployment,” said Jianhua Cao, Sales Director, Asia-Pacific, Aimetis. “They can maintain the strict security standards of the track and grow their deployment as needed in the future.”

Symphony helps deliver a lower total cost of ownership by consolidating servers, reducing Microsoft licensing, and improving user efficiency. The number of cameras you can have per server determines how many servers you need to buy, which impacts initial maintenance costs. With fewer servers, you can also save energy costs to help with a lower overall cost of ownership for the entire deployment.
