As the annual International Fundraising Conference, hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals is underway in San Francisco — NeonCRM is excited to announce another amazing year of fundraising.
Giving (online and offline donations) is up 52% so far, from this year over last year, according to recent data released by nonprofit software provider NeonCRM.
The data shows Neon’s clients have raised nearly $600 million in donations over the last year. It also compares this year’s data to past years for insights into fundraising trends across the nonprofit sector.
While a majority of donations continue to come from offline sources, such as checks and cash donations, online donations now make up 14% of donation totals in Q1 of 2017, compared to 9% in Q1 of 2016.
There are many theories in the sector about the increase in giving — from resistance to Trump, to the rise in mobile giving platforms. But Neon’s CEO, Jeff Gordy, believes that software innovation has made it more efficient for nonprofits to raise money.
“Fundraising looks totally different now than it did a few years ago,” says Gordy. “The rate that we’re developing new features for nonprofits, our clients are basically gaining a new toolset of fundraising features every month. We’re listening to what nonprofits need, and then we’re building it — and it’s working.”
With an older audience and some traditional promotion techniques (think: snail mail), nonprofits can get stuck with a “behind the times” label. But according to Gordy, there are plenty of nonprofits using more advanced tools than the typical for-profit business. And Gordy’s clients are winning at the online fundraising game.
Nonprofits looking to expand their reach with the industry’s most powerful tools can now tap into the Neon One nonprofit network. The network pairs the industry’s top nonprofit technology vendors with consultants and nonprofit experts. It’s the culmination of Neon’s vision: easy-to-access resources and services from partners and integrations — all designed to help nonprofits become more connected and data-driven.
"No other company approaches a partner ecosystem with authentic relationships at the center,” says Neon’s Director of Business Development, Tim Sarrantonio. “To truly make a difference we need a major change in how connections are fostered between nonprofits, technology providers, and consultants — Neon One is that change the industry needs."
Due to the wide range of causes and operations in the nonprofit sector, Neon has found that most nonprofits need some sort of customization to track all the data they need. To make that easier for nonprofits, Neon will launch a new feature later this year that will allow users similar custom functionality of a Salesforce system at a fraction of the price.
Neon’s “Custom Objects” will be built into every NeonCRM system, expanding options for integrations and data management for thousands of nonprofits. The company says users should expect to see the new functionality within the next few months.
