Glassboard Wins Best Manufacturing Innovation and Best Overall IoT at IoT Civic Hackathon
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (PRWEB) May 04, 2017 -- Glassboard, a product development company, announced today it was named ‘Best Manufacturing Innovation’ and ‘Best Overall IoT’ at the April 22nd Civic Hackathon for its creation of The Smart Tool Crib, a prototype concept created to help secure lab and manufacturing assets quickly and easily using off the shelf development kits, electromagnetic locks, Bluetooth beacons, and infrared proximity sensors.
The Civic Hackathon, which took place at Launch Fishers in Fishers, Indiana, on April 22nd, was presented by the AT&T Developer Program. AT&T and other top technology sponsors challenged participants to build IoT applications using government data, APIs and any hardware of their choosing. Attendees hacked and built IoT applications and projects with experts from AT&T and the local community onsite to assist with the development.
“At Glassboard, we strive to innovate in everything we do, and the Civic Hackathon was a prime opportunity for us to showcase some of our unique differentiators,” commented Drew Westrick, VP of Technology at Glassboard. “We’re proud of the talented team members at Glassboard who aren’t afraid to think outside of the box. We’re also incredibly grateful to the local IoT and tech community right here in Indiana for their continued support and to the AT&T Developer Program for recognizing our efforts in the Hackathon.”
Glassboard was joined by several of its partners each of whom played a role in the Hackathon:
Devin Love, Senior Systems Engineer at Allegion, explained, "I handled the odds and ends around the physical installation, and gave the pitch during our demonstration. It was exciting to see so much tech talent show up and get creative for the state of Indiana."
Chris Achard, Founder of NanoHop, commented, "I focused on the mobile app, built with React Native. It was exciting to see the solution come together so quickly, and to see our team work so well together.”
Mohammad Afaneh, said, “My role included support for both hardware assembly, software and implementation of the iBeacon functionality. I learned a lot and was very impressed with what the other team members were able to accomplish in less than 24 hours. Thanks to all who helped organize the event!”
