The Women’s Foundation of Colorado to Feature Live Conversation with Former First Lady Michelle Obama at 30th Anniversary Celebration
DENVER (PRWEB) May 08, 2017 -- On Tuesday, July 25, The Women’s Foundation of Colorado (WFCO) will host a live conversation with former First Lady Michelle Obama at its 30th anniversary celebration.
Called TOGETHER, the nonpartisan, nonpolitical public event at Pepsi Center will celebrate The Foundation’s 30 years as a leader in advancing and accelerating economic opportunities for Colorado women and their families.
“Mrs. Obama has inspired many girls with her story and her fierce commitment to creating access to education for girls,” says WFCO President and CEO Lauren Y. Casteel, who will moderate the live conversation with Mrs. Obama during the event. “We are thrilled that she is joining us.”
Through her advocacy and powerful story, Mrs. Obama has encouraged women and girls to overcome adversity, pursue higher education and job training, and give back by uplifting others. As first lady, Mrs. Obama became a role model, champion, and inspiration for women, families, and young people across America and around the world. One of her White House initiatives was Let Girls Learn, an international effort to help adolescent girls access education.
TOGETHER will bring thousands of diverse community members together to raise funds to power WFCO’s research, public policy advocacy, and grantmaking that together propel Colorado women and girls from promise to prosperity.
“Despite a burgeoning economy in Colorado, women still lag behind men in troubling ways: They earn less than their male counterparts and are more likely to live in or near poverty,” Casteel says. “As The Women’s Foundation of Colorado marks our 30th year, we commit to continuing our progress until every woman and girl has the opportunity to not only survive, but to thrive.”
