Healthcare Informatics Takes Home the Gold ASHPE Award for Top Ten Tech Trends Report
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 07, 2017 -- Healthcare Informatics won twice in ASHPE’s 2017 Awards Competition, which honors writing excellence and insightful reporting among U.S. healthcare publications. For the fourth consecutive year, Healthcare Informatics won an award for its signature “Top Ten Tech Trends” special report, this time taking home the Gold Award in the Best Special Report/Section Category. Healthcare Informatics also won a Bronze Award in the Best Case History Category for Editor-in-Chief Mark Hagland’s story on the first-place winning team in the 2016 Innovator Awards program, UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Healthcare Informatics’ Top Ten Tech Trends report comes out every year in the spring and gives readers insight into how their worlds could be shaped in the next several years as it relates to health IT. It is a widely quoted issue, and one of the best-read every year. The 2016 report covered an extensive array of health IT’s most pressing issues: from FHIR; to MACRA/MIPS; to cybersecurity; to physician documentation reform; and much more. Mark Hagland’s cover story on UT Southwestern Medical Center, the first-place winning team in the 2016 Innovator Awards Program, told a fascinating story how the patient care organization, via its Ambulatory Quality Outcomes Project, has been able to turbocharge quality improvement in physician practice. Indeed, UT Southwestern is blazing the trail for its colleagues nationwide, showing them what is possible when the right vision, strategy, planning, execution, IT, and analytics, are combined into successful initiatives.
Speaking of the news of the Gold Award in the Best Special Report/Special Section category, Healthcare Informatics Editor-in-Chief Mark Hagland said, “It is deeply gratifying for all of us on the editorial team at Healthcare Informatics to receive this honor from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors, and we appreciate very much this recognition. This is actually the fourth award overall (the team has also received two silver awards) that we’ve received for our ‘Top Ten Tech Trends’ cover story package, which provides our readers—healthcare and healthcare IT senior leaders in hospitals, medical groups, and health systems—a broad overview of the most important trends shaping our industry in the present moment. We are gratified to know that this cover story package, one of our signature editorial offerings each year, is being recognized for its editorial quality.
