Masút Vineyard and Winery Introduces 2015 Estate Pinot Noir
(PRWEB) May 10, 2017 -- We all know the expression “a tough act to follow” and it holds true for Masút Vineyard and Winery’s latest release, 2015 Estate Pinot Noir. Following the great success of its 2014 Estate Pinot Noir, the bother’s Fetzer, Jake and Ben, have come up with another winner. Both Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast believe so also recently awarding it 92 points.
The Masút vineyard lies within the Eagle Peak, Mendocino County AVA, located at the headwaters of the Russian River in Northern California. Planted in 1997, these vines straddle a ridge in the shadows of Eagle Peak, where cool breezy nights and shallow top soils produce intense, flavorful pinot noirs in this mountainous environment.
Jake and Ben Fetzer, grandsons of the legendary Barney Fetzer, established the Winery in 2009 to honor their late father Bobby Fetzer, one of Mendocino County’s most experienced grape growers, who died in a tragic rafting accident.
“Our 1,100-acre ranch lies within the new Eagle Peak, Mendocino County AVA that we created in 2014,” said Jake Fetzer. “At the headwaters of the Russian River, we are using the area’s unique elevation and climate to our advantage, and it has proven to be a sweet spot for outstanding Pinot Noir in a new frontier of California.”
“We’ve had outstanding success with 2014 Masút Estate Pinot Noir,” said Bruce Hunter, Managing Director of Shaw-Ross International Importers, LLC, which is the exclusive distributor of Masút. “The acceptance of the expression at both on and off premise has been exceptional. We anticipate the 2015 vintage will meet with equal success.”
“The 2015 is deep garnet in color, enticing concentrated red-fruits and spice on the nose,” added Fetzer. “It presents a medium body and bright acidity with silky smooth finish."
“This year is our 20th anniversary since planting the Masút vineyard and we could not be happier to celebrate the occasion with our latest release,” said Fetzer. "The picturesque 2015 growing season was marked by early bud-break and below average yields leady to an early harvest. Delicious and refined is how I would like to characterize it.”
