PeopleKeys' New BAI Management and Hiring Report Targets Millennials

Millennials have the highest turnover of any generation. We created a product to help management identify the keys to retaining their top talent.

PeopleKeys, the thought leader in applied Behavioral Analysis and personality assessment, announced the release of a new tool designed to assist in motivating and managing the Millennial generation. Their Behavioral Attitude Index (BAI) Assessment and corresponding I-SPEAK management report addresses the needs of a changing workforce.

PeopleKeys' International Director and Master Trainer, Dr. Brad Smith, said of the BAI “We based this new tool on years of research. Many of the Baby Boomer aged managers we’ve worked with mentioned that they were having difficulties motivating, understanding, and retaining their Millennial aged employees. They came to us for advice, and we came up with a solution. Our research indicated that there may be some broad differences between generations, but they become less confusing once you understand certain key principles.Once management applied these principles, they were better equipped to negotiate generational differences.”

As Boomers retire, Millennials are rapidly moving through the corporate ranks. But they don’t always stay in one position. PeopleKeys’ BAI assessment was able to show why- these individuals were not having certain key values met within their position.

Because this generation is the generation most likely to switch jobs, PeopleKeys was eager to figure out what could be done about this.

What they found was that many Millennials will not stay long term if work-life balance is not maintained.

To understand, motivate, and manage this generation employers and managers needed to understand the Millennial individual’s underlying motivators, passions, and values.

The newly released Behavioral Attitudes Index (BAI) and its I-SPEAK report allows managers to understand how their employees think, how to motivate them, and who to hire in the first place.

“We understood that each individual within a generation is as different from other people their own age as they are from people in other generations. But people are predictably different. As many other experts have also acknowledged, the Millennial Generation usually tends to value certain things. One of these trends that we noticed is the collapse of the barrier between work and personal identity. With that in mind, we created this product to help employers and managers identify individual’s values so they can motivate, hire, and retain employees and create opportunities aligning their values with those of the company’s culture,” said Coleen Kulkin, M.A., PeopleKeys’ Director of Product Development.

PeopleKeys’ reliable Behavioral Analysis tools, like the BAI, are designed to identify predictable behaviors within an individual. This can be used to help managers of a different generation identify their employees values, and respond accordingly. Managers can use information about their employees values to offer them custom incentives, promotions that are aligned with their internal values, and adjust their working environment to increase retention. This report will show managers whether a specific employee would be more motivated by a bonus, a change in work environment, or public acknowledgement of their hard work.

Dr. Smith adds, “Studies show when personal passions fit with the job role and corporate culture Millennials enthusiastically perform their duties if their I-SPEAK matches with the career needs (Inner Awareness, Social, Political, Economic, Artistic, Knowledge) they thrive and are motivated. If it doesn’t, then productivity goes down. Knowing what will motivate an employee is key to their success.”

The I-SPEAK/BAI report is available on PeopleKeys’ DISCInsights page and will show the results of the BAI Assessment and help Managers to hire, motivate and keep the right employees for their business.
