PALMco, an energy supply company, announced today that its commitment to, a non-profit crowd funding platform where teachers can request classroom resources, has reached its fundraising goal of $11,000. The campaign reached over 3,800 students at 38 schools, completed funding for 54 projects, and mobilized donors to contribute with PALMco matching each dollar. PALMco’s latest commitment brings the total contributions to projects to $86,000, all in support of local education initiatives in the communities that are served by the energy company.

In December 2016, PALMco launched a “Double Your Impact” fundraising campaign through with a maximum goal of $11,000. PALMco elected projects with an environmental science theme costing $800 or less from schools in low-income communities all throughout the state of Connecticut. Each time a donation was made by an individual on a qualifying project, that amount was matched by PALMco to double the total donation.

This is the fourth commitment in a partnership between and PALMco. With combined donations totaling $86,000, PALMco has reached over 33,000 students by mobilizing additional donors throughout the seven states in which they serve. By using the “Double Your Impact” model, other individuals are encouraged to make contributions knowing that its effect will multiply with PALMco’s matching commitment. Between PALMco’s direct donations and those of mobilized donors, teachers in low-income school districts have received over $170,000 worth of school supplies to further engage students in learning.

“ continues to be an incredible partner in connecting us with educators and students eager to learn about their environment,” said Robert Palmese, Chief Executive Officer of PALMco Energy. “PALMco is committed to contributing to the communities that we serve in various ways, such as engaging students in science education.”

“My classroom of 20 first graders is full of excitement, learning, and laughter! We are an inner city school in a low income area and our students come from many diverse backgrounds,” said Connecticut first grade teacher Mrs. Germe who received funding to incubate and hatch chicks in the classroom through PALMco’s match donation. “We will learn so much with this experience and I am hoping it will be something my students never forget. I am so grateful to be able to provide my class with such a hands on approach to learning about life cycles and I owe it all to you.”

“I work in an urban school system where budgets are tight. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) lessons are vital to my biology and biotech students, but we often cannot afford them,” said Ms. Kielma, a high school biology teacher. “Without PALMco's generous donation, I would not be able to provide such an amazing, hands-on experience to my students for learning about phytoremediation and the benefits of natural, organic methods to clean up the environment!”

This partnership is part of PALMco Cares, an ongoing effort to give back to the communities in which PALMco operates.
