Insight Education Presents Complimentary Community Seminar: The Art of College Admissions
Capitola, California (PRWEB) May 11, 2017 -- Insight Education invites you to attend its free seminar: The Art of College Admissions on Sunday, May 28, 2017 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The seminar will be hosted at the Mid County Senior Center, 829 Bay Ave, Capitola, CA 95010.
Founded in 1999 by a dedicated team of Stanford graduates, Insight Education will take this opportunity to address the changing landscape of college admissions for Santa Cruz area students and what to expect in the college application process. This session is excellent for families of 8th-11th grade students seeking to understand what colleges expect from students at the high school level, including academics, activities, and testing. Focusing on the trends specifically for Santa Cruz students, the seminar gives families the opportunity to hear about key learnings from the past admissions season.
UCLA received over 100,000 applications for freshman admission this year, while many colleges across the country saw record increases in applications. This has resulted in record-low admissions rates across public and private schools around the country. The average GPA for Santa Cruz students admitted to UC Santa Cruz is now 3.95 and increasing every year.
Insight Education’s counseling team will discuss University of California admissions, private college admissions, and out-of-state public college admissions. Standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT and PSAT, extracurricular activities, and honors and awards will also be discussed. Finally, the seminar will cover college essays, college applications and majors as a part of the admissions process.
Insight Education prides itself on guiding students and families through the complex high school journey and college admissions process by sharing the truth about what each student will face. The company's philosophy is built upon the idea that each child has a unique set of attributes and talents and takes a personalized approach to educational consulting. As a result, Insight builds a comprehensive plan tailored to students and then works with students and their families to reach their educational goals. This approach has garnered the company a unique level of insight not only into their students but also into the admissions process itself.
Sarah de Sousa, a senior counselor at Insight Education, remarked: “As a Santa Cruz native and Stanford graduate, I have witnessed and lived the unique challenges and opportunities Santa Cruz students face when applying to college. Our May 28th event is a great opportunity for Santa Cruz students and parents alike to become more informed about current admissions trends and plan for their futures with true and accurate information.”
