SUM Innovation Hires New VP of Accounting to Lead in Nonprofit Sector
New York, New York (PRWEB) May 15, 2017 -- Accounting management and consulting firm SUM Innovation has hired Scott Brown as its new vice president of accounting. In hiring Brown, SUM Innovation is responding to the shifting demands of its nonprofit clientele.
"After a long history of servicing the nonprofit sector, we've decided to take our work to the next level — to build out innovative service models that address a broad range of challenges faced by this important mission-based sector," SUM Innovation CEO Mathew Heggem said. "This is why we decided that we needed new leadership on the team to support that evolution."
Brown has an extensive background in nonprofit finance and accounting. In his new position with SUM Innovation, Brown will help the firm handle its PEO offerings and a core component of the future offerings and provide greater leadership around the firm's development of nonprofit services in the coming years.
"I'm excited about being a part of the SUM Innovation team and leveraging my experience and skill set with a broad range of clients," Brown said. "After spending over 30 years in the nonprofit space, SUM's innovative approach to addressing its clients' needs through a variety of personalized services resonates completely with my career goal to serve others, especially in the nonprofit sector. I'm truly looking forward to the journey."
After graduating from Pace University, Brown worked as a financial analyst for IBM for three years. He has more than 30 years of experience in the nonprofit space. He has worked as a divisional finance director for the School District of Philadelphia. He was also the first director of finance and administration for the nonprofit Mohonk Preserve, a nature preserve in New York, as well as the director of operations for BritishAmerican Business, a 501(c)(6) that serves more than 500 transatlantic members.
Brown also served four years in the United States Air Force and has actively volunteered with the Special Olympics for the past 22 years.
