Haystack TV Expands to Include Content from 70+ Local Markets and Weather Nationwide
Redwood City, CA (PRWEB) May 16, 2017 -- Personalized video news platform Haystack TV has announced a major push into local news and weather through content partnerships with major broadcasters across the U.S. In addition to providing national and international news content, Haystack TV now streams local news and weather from more than 70 markets across the country, covering nearly 40 million U.S. households.
“We look forward to helping our partners distribute their premium local content to more Millennials and Generation X users,” said Haystack TV CEO Daniel Barreto. “Our users also value having access to local news and weather. Our numbers show they’re 30% more likely to engage with their local content than national and international news.”
In addition to previous deals with Gray Television and Meredith Corporation, Hearst Television is the latest content partner to distribute via the Haystack TV platform. Through this latest partnership, Haystack TV users have gained access to local news and weather produced by Hearst Television-owned stations in 30 markets out of 39 states. Outside of local broadcasters, Haystack TV has also partnered with weather provider Praedictix to ensure users nationwide have access to weather video forecasts for their region.
"We are thrilled to be teaming up with Haystack TV, which is redefining what media can be in an age of on-demand, over-the-top programming. Our team of meteorologists is adding perspective, context and analysis, connecting the dots for consumers in a way no app ever will. We couldn't be more proud to work with a company that understands how content is evolving - and what comes next," said Praedictix Founder/Senior Meteorologist Paul Douglas.
Haystack TV is accessible through free apps on Android TV, Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android, iPhone, iPad and the web. The apps automatically recognize users’ locations and serve local news that is relevant to their geographic area. Users also have the option to manually set their location to watch local content from a city of their choice. In addition to local news partners, Haystack TV has also inked distribution deals with premium media brands including CBS Interactive and Newsy.
