We need to use a standard language to describe the content and level of a credential. Otherwise, credentials lose some of their value and credibility in the marketplace.
Vernon Hills, IL (PRWEB) May 16, 2017
Wonderlic, Inc. has announced that Dr. Amanda Opperman, Director of Competency-Based Solutions, has become a member of the Technical Advisory Committee at Credential Engine, a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve transparency in the credentialing marketplace.
Wonderlic is concerned about the quality and standards for credentialing because of the digital badges it offers as part of the Wonderlic Soft Skills Bootcamp™. Wonderlic also offers digital badges to students of postsecondary technical schools who complete competency-based assessments and demonstrate mastery in programs related to Allied Health, Criminal Justice and Business.
Dr. Opperman explains, "Today, the value of a credential is difficult for employers to translate. We need to use a standard language to describe the content and level of a credential. Otherwise, credentials lose some of their value and credibility in the marketplace."
Credential Engine grew out of the Credential Transparency Initiative (CTI), which began in 2013, and is supported by Lumina Foundation. Credential Engine maintains the open-licensed Credential Registry (CR) and Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL), and promotes an open applications marketplace.
Credential Engine cooperates with other credentialing initiatives to improve the credentialing market. "In the meantime," Dr. Opperman says, "My job is to share best practices and bring home the latest ideas so Wonderlic can continually improve its learning and assessment products and communicate their value in a manner that will benefit employers, students and test takers."
