Top Healthcare Institutions to Speak at the HIMSS Precision Medicine Summit in Boston, June 12-13
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 18, 2017 -- Researchers and practitioners from the nation’s leading healthcare institutions will converge in Boston next month to discuss the current state and fast-approaching future of a groundbreaking approach to disease prevention and treatment, precision medicine.
The Precision Medicine Summit, slated for June 12-13, 2017 at the Westin Boston Waterfront in Boston, MA, is produced by HIMSS, a global leader in healthcare industry news, analysis and events. Open to healthcare executives, physicians, researchers and other professionals, the first-of-its-kind conference will give attendees a look at case studies and critical insight on technology, diagnostics, genomics, and analytics that will impact how and when precision medicine moves into primary care.
“Precision medicine is going to change how medicine is practiced, and significantly affect how people live their lives. It’s (precision medicine) going to take healthcare from the current practice of treatment, to prevention – and it’s coming faster than anyone anticipated,” says John Whelan, Executive Vice President - HIMSS Media. “The healthcare industry needs to be ready. That’s why we’re bringing together these pioneers to discuss every challenge and opportunity for precision medicine, so providers can get up to speed.”
The two-day conference will host more than twenty speakers, including opening keynote Eric Dishman, director of the National Institutes of Health’s “All of Us” Research Program. Dishman will provide insight into the groundbreaking NIH program, address the current state and promise of precision medicine, and will share his own story as a 23-year kidney cancer patient, now cured thanks to efforts in precision medicine. Other presenting institutions include Stanford Health, UC Berkeley, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Mayo Clinic, Northshore University Health System, University of Texas System, Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, among others.
