MeTEOR Education Sponsors 2017 EdShift Events
Gainesville, FL (PRWEB) May 23, 2017 -- On June 9, the first of the 2017 EdShift regional conferences will take place in Melbourne, Fla. At these collaborative events, teams of individuals with a vested interest in their district’s success – superintendents, teachers, community leaders, parents and students – will create new conversations on how best to bring about positive change for their learning communities. The focus for this year’s events is fostering positive and productive student-teacher relationships for more effective learning. Attendees will participate in a lively exchange of ideas on how to truly transform learning and will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with world-renowned experts.
MeTEOR Education and a number of key education partners will present the one-day EdShift events; giving attendees the opportunity to meet with instructional experts on the topics of college and career readiness, cognitive demand, project based learning and social/emotional learning. They will also hear from America’s leading school environments experts: architects and designers focused on classroom modernization. Additionally, they will network with innovative and successful district leaders who will talk about the stumbling blocks they encountered and share their strategies for overcoming those obstacles.
The conferences’ keynote speaker will be Rex Miller, co-author of the book Humanizing the Education Machine: How to Create Schools That Turn Disengaged Kids Into Inspired Learners. Miller is the principal and thought leader for the K-12 MindShift, a future-focused consultancy and organizational performance movement that tackles challenging systemic issues.
“EdShift is a conference truly focused on taking action,” said Bill Latham, CEO of MeTEOR and co-author of Humanizing the Education Machine. “EdShift organizers actually describe the events as ‘education gabfests’ where district stakeholders can come together to dialogue, learn and design their district’s vision for learning alongside some of the nation’s leading educational experts. That’s different from the usual conference format of attendees being talked at but given little in the way of practical solutions.”
Future EdShift events will be held on September 28, in Los Angeles, Calif., and October 20, in Houston, Texas. Interested parties can find complete details and register for the event in their region by going to https://edshift.com/locations.
