Apptentive Announces Release of Latest Report, Mobile Product Management: New Trends and Data for 2017
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) May 24, 2017 -- Apptentive, the Mobile Customer Experience platform for the world’s leading brands, today released their latest report, Mobile Product Management: New Trends and Data for 2017. The report was created to help mobile product managers understand how their jobs and mobile products stack up against their peers, along with tips for improving technical skills, measuring success, facing challenges, and how to get ahead in 2017.
As mobile engagement continues to increase at a rapid rate, companies across all industries are adopting and expanding their mobile strategies. To understand mobile’s impact on the product management industry, Apptentive surveyed 200 mobile PMs. The results were compared and contrasted with their 2015 mobile product management study to identify industry trends. The data in the report highlights demographic data, key decision makers, success metrics, average level of technical skill, average salaries, and more.
Key findings:
- The mobile product management industry is becoming less technical, as demonstrated by the 20% decrease in the number of mobile product managers who are able to code from 2015 to 2017.
- The biggest challenges mobile product managers face in 2017 are lack of time (44%), lack of user testing (36%), and too many responsibilities (34%).
- The focus has shifted from one platform to multiple platforms. Mobile product managers now work on both iOS (97%) and Android (82%) in 2017—a 54% and 122% increase from 2015, respectively.
“As mobile becomes a cornerstone of every product, the line between ‘product management’ and ‘mobile product management’ has blurred,” said Robi Ganguly, Co-founder and CEO of Apptentive. “Mobile product managers are at a unique crossroads when it comes to influencing their products and impacting their company's larger business goals. We hope the data in this report helps product managers gain a competitive edge in 2017 and beyond.”
