Author Bob and Margaret Massey’s newly released “THE FLINTHILLS FAMILY-Our Journey to the Cross” is the life story of Bob Massey and his journey to the Cross.
(PRWEB) May 26, 2017 -- “THE FLINTHILLS FAMILY-Our Journey to the Cross”: the personal journey of Bob Massey and his faith in the Lord. “THE FLINTHILLS FAMILY-Our Journey to the Cross” is the creation of published authors, Bob and Margaret Massey. Bob Massey is small in stature but big in character. As Johnny Cash used to say, he is "panther quick and leather tough." His love for others is apparent in all of his life decisions.
“I’m in the eightieth year of this journey God has given me and there are many things I want to share with you, my readers, that I pray will encourage you, make you laugh, maybe cause you to shed a tear or two, and give you reason to thank God for the journey He has given you. I want you to know that I came from pioneer stock—strong, sturdy, and determined men and women who helped to build this country.” --Bob and Margaret Massey
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Bob and Margaret Massey’s new book tells the life story of Bob Massey and his family’s struggle to cope with the death of their eldest son.
Bob Massey was born during the depression in Wichita, Kansas. His father took a job as a bouncer, because it was the only work available. His mother was a fry cook. They lived in a small apartment in the back of the nightclub until Bob was two years old. They moved to a farm near Udall where two brothers were born. In 1943, his parents divorced and his father was immediately drafted. Bob lived with grandparents in Western Kansas during the war. Because his father suffered from shell-shock, the boys were later sent to live with their mom and a very harsh stepfather who expected them to work many hours a day on their farm.
At the age of twelve, Bob survived a near fatal accident. Upon recovery, he developed a devil-may-care attitude to cover his anger and hurt. Bob married his high school sweetheart and they had five children. The title, “THE FLINTHILLS FAMILY-Our Journey to the Cross” describes where he lives, how he came to know the Lord, and how the death of his oldest son led the family to the Cross. It also describes the ministry that was developed from his experiences.
